i’ve always been so awkward at beginnings

This one always makes me laugh. At myself. And at the funny person who thought of it. (Wish it was me.)

Hello, friends.

Where did we leave off? On review it appears we were snapping visa pictures on the front porch of the Farmhouse in Delaware. In the eight months since then our family has traveled approximately 15,230 miles (24,510 km). That’s as the crow flies–the big metal British Airways crow, for most of it. We’ve crossed the USA twice, the oceans once, and are now established–literally–on the other side of Earth.

There are things to say about this process but perhaps the relevant point here is this one: I could not find time to blog.

It became difficult to find time to write last year and then it became impossible. There was all of that waffling about what to do with this blog and then in the end I made no decision at all–the rising waves of busyness washed up and over my head and writing floated away out to sea, where it bobbed about until recently, raising my head above the surf for air, I spotted it.

The thing is, I just must write.

And so I’ve begun again. I’ve always been so awkward at beginnings (cue nervous laughter). There’s still a time-question and a content-question I need to figure out, a security briefing you need to have, a replacement camera lens I haven’t managed yet (long story), and…and…and.
