when we gave our hearts to Jesus

when we gave our hearts to Jesus

it wasn’t to a fisher hauling his unwilling catch
it wasn’t to a hunter waiting for his prey to snatch
it wasn’t to a peddler making promises false and fast
it wasn’t to a merchant selling off his goods for cash
it wasn’t to a soldier barking harsh commands

it was to a carpenter
who builds things, carefully, with his hands
