jenny on psalm 113

I am not the author of this post. Having recently loved this piece on the blog of my dear friend (and blogging mentor) I asked her to reproduce it here for any of my readers that haven’t seen it. Jenny Rigney is a Texas girl braving the temperatures of Minnesota for the love of a good man. After waiting faithfully on the Lord for three years, she became mother to Sam (and Baby, due this summer!). She is an excellent friend, homemaker, and photographer.

A not-so-quiet time

Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!  Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore!

“Oh, hi baby! How are ya?  Good? Good!  Would you like to play with your farm for a bit while momma reads?”

From the rising of the sun

“Oh wow!  A pig!  What does the pig say, Sam?…That’s right!”

…to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised! The Lord is high above all nations…

“Thanks for the pig, Sam!  Does the pig have a name?  No?  How ’bout Bacon? Get down please, do not stand on that.”

and his glory above all heavens! Who is like the Lord our…

“A cow!  That’s right, the cow says “Moo”, would you like to take the cow on a walk through the pasture?”

God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?  He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy…

seeeeee the chicken (holding the chicken right in my face), thank you buddy. I think the chicken wants to go back into the coop now.

…from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with princes of his people.

Sure, you can sit up here with me.  Okay, be gentle with the pages.”

He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children.

“You want a snack now?”

Praise the Lord!

  1. Alex says:

    Beautiful post, Jen. Thanks.

  2. Thank you, Betsy, for stopping by my blog, for your kind words, and for your precious prayers. I receive them from His heart via your heart today, and it encourages me! I am going to add you to my reader so we can stay connected across the miles. Having just moved back to the US after living in South Africa for 3 years, I am most intrigued and highly interested in your journey.
